The Kiambu County Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation has continued the distribution of free improved kinyeji chicks and piglets to women and youth in Kabete and Nyathuna wards, Kabete Sub-County.
The initiative aims to place productive assets directly into the hands of communities, accelerating agribusiness adoption and strengthening household incomes. County officials say the programme is designed to support vulnerable groups while enhancing food security at the grassroots level.
By targeting women and youth, the county is promoting inclusive economic participation and encouraging sustainable farming practices. The department noted that livestock rearing remains a key driver of rural livelihoods and local economic growth.
The programme is part of Kiambu County’s broader strategy to build resilient communities and support long-term agricultural development.
