Ngewa Ward MCA Charles Gitau Kang’ethe has led a public participation forum convened by Githunguri Water and Sanitation Company, bringing together consumers and stakeholders to address key operational concerns.
The meeting focused on restoring stability within the company and improving service delivery to residents.
Among the main issues discussed was the renewal of contracts for employees who had previously been laid off, including members of the management and technical teams. Stakeholders supported the proposal, noting that adequate staffing is critical to efficient water service provision.
Participants also deliberated on plans to expand the consumer base in a bid to strengthen revenue collection and enhance sustainability.
On tariffs, the forum explored the possibility of reviews while maintaining the existing framework, signalling the need for caution to avoid placing additional pressure on consumers.
Another major resolution was the reconnection of water services to residents with outstanding bills as negotiations continue on structured payment plans.
Speaking during the engagement, Kang’ethe emphasised the importance of transparency and inclusive decision-making in matters affecting essential services.
The forum marks a step toward improving accountability and strengthening trust between the water company and the residents of Githunguri.
