Kiambu County has commissioned a new cabro-making machine at Juja Farm Vocational Training Centre in Kalimoni Ward, a move set to rehabilitate roads and create employment for local youth.
The machine, officially launched by H.E Dr. Kimani Wamatangi, will produce cabro stones used in upgrading walkways and shopping centres across Juja Sub-County. County officials say the initiative will support both infrastructure development and youth empowerment.
In addition to the machine, the county has renovated and upgraded the vocational training centre, ensuring it can accommodate more trainees and provide modern facilities for skill development. Funds have also been earmarked to assist needy youth seeking vocational courses, enabling them to gain employable skills.
Present at the launch were Chief Officer for Vocational Training & Social Services Ms. Emily Nkoroi, Chief Officer for Youth Affairs & Communication Dr. Mercy Njoki, Director of Vocational Training Mr. Wilfred Nyarangi, and several MCAs including Kalimoni Ward representative Hon. Godfrey Mucheke.
The project is part of Kiambu County’s broader plan to combine infrastructure improvements with youth empowerment, ensuring communities benefit from both economic opportunities and better roads.
