The government has disbursed Ksh1.78 billion for the June and July 2025 Inua Jamii cash transfer programme targeting orphans and vulnerable children.
Principal Secretary for the State Department for Children Services, Carren Ageng’o, confirmed that 445,940 households will each receive Ksh4,000, covering the two-month cycle at Ksh2,000 per month.
Ageng’o explained that payments began on Monday, September 8, through contracted service providers. She noted the delay was due to the restructuring of the newly established State Department for Children Services under Executive Order No.1 of 2025.
The PS emphasized that the programme plays a crucial role in improving access to education, healthcare, nutrition, and household food security for vulnerable children.
Her announcement comes just weeks after Social Services PS Joseph Motari revealed that over one million other Inua Jamii beneficiaries had received Ksh4.6 billion for the same period following earlier delays.
