Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has assented to the Supplementary Budget No. 1 for the 2025/2026 Financial Year, unlocking Ksh10 billion in development funds to fast-track key projects across the county.
The revised budget focuses heavily on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment, signaling a strong shift towards completion of ongoing county projects.
According to Governor Wamatangi, the additional allocation will fund the construction and equipping of hospitals, completion of remaining ECDE centres, and the tarmacking and cabro-paving of roads under a countywide rehabilitation programme.
The budget also includes funding for the installation of more than 6,000 solar streetlights, an increase in the county bursary fund to Ksh750 million, and significant investment in agricultural initiatives aimed at boosting productivity.
Further, the Governor revealed that over Ksh300 million has been earmarked for youth empowerment programs, including enterprise development and skills training.
Governor Wamatangi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every shilling of the development budget translates into tangible benefits for the people of Kiambu.
“Our goal is to make sure every sector from health to education, roads, and youth empowerment reflects real impact on the ground,” he said.
The Governor’s move underscores Kiambu’s drive to accelerate service delivery and complete flagship projects ahead of schedule, positioning the county as one of Kenya’s fastest-developing devolved units.
