Isiolo South MP Mohamed Tubi Bidu dies after short illness while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital

Isiolo South Member of Parliament Mohamed Tubi Bidu has died after a short illness, plunging Isiolo County and the nation into mourning.

Reports indicate that the Jubilee Party legislator passed away on Wednesday evening while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

Tubi, who was serving his first term as MP, sat in the Departmental Committee on Environment and the Public Petitions Committee of the National Assembly. He was elected to represent Isiolo South Constituency in the 2022 General Election.

Before joining Parliament, Tubi served as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly between 2013 and 2017, where he was credited for strengthening legislative operations in the young devolved unit.

Confirming the sad news, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula described Tubi’s death as a profound loss to Parliament and the nation.

“As we come to terms with this great loss, let us remember Hon. Tubi for his remarkable service and the positive impact he had on our country,” Wetang’ula said.

President William Ruto also mourned the late MP, describing him as a dedicated leader and a passionate advocate for education and development.

“He believed deeply in empowering communities through knowledge and opportunity. His legacy of service and leadership in Isiolo will be remembered for years to come,” President Ruto said in his condolence message.

The late MP’s colleagues and constituents have eulogized him as a humble and hardworking leader who served his people with integrity and vision.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family and the Parliamentary Service Commission in the coming days.
