Kiambu County, Family Bank Foundation begin joint plan to identify needy learners for upcoming scholarship program

Kiambu County is moving towards expanding education support for vulnerable learners following a consultative meeting with the Family Bank Group Foundation (TFGF) on Thursday at the County Headquarters.

The meeting brought together officials from the Department of Education, Gender, Culture and Social Services and representatives from the Family Bank Foundation, who are seeking to partner with the county in identifying beneficiaries for their scholarship program.

Chief Officer for Vocational Training, Gender and Social Services, Ms. Emily Nkoroi, chaired the session on behalf of the county, while the TFGF team was led by Senior Program Manager Damaris Githinji.

According to the county, the proposed collaboration will involve the Department’s Social Services division in vetting and identifying deserving students, ensuring that the scholarship reaches learners from genuinely disadvantaged backgrounds. The partnership also aims to streamline the selection process by adopting a coordinated, transparent and community-focused approach.

County officials welcomed the foundation’s interest, noting that such partnerships play a crucial role in widening access to education, reducing inequality and empowering families across Kiambu. Further engagements are expected as both parties work towards finalizing the framework for implementation.
