In a significant step toward improving living conditions for inmates, Kiambu Main GK Prison has received 800 beds under the HE for HE Adopt a Triple Decker Bed Initiative.

The program aims to address congestion, promote hygiene, and create safer, more dignified spaces for inmates across correctional facilities.

Kiambu Township MCA Francis Koina, who confirmed the delivery, said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to improving welfare standards within the penal system.

“The new beds will help reduce overcrowding and enhance hygiene within our prisons. This is about restoring dignity and ensuring humane conditions,” Koina said.

The HE for HE (Hustler Empowering Hustler Enterprises) initiative is part of ongoing efforts to modernise public institutions through community and private partnerships, targeting sustainable and humane reforms in the correctional sector.

Prison officials welcomed the support, noting that the new beds will drastically improve space management and overall well-being within the facility.
