Students at Ruiru Girls High School in Biashara Ward have received a major financial boost after a bursary cheque worth Ksh 2,331,000 was issued through the Ruiru National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
The bursary allocation is expected to support both day and boarding students at the institution, easing the financial burden on parents and helping learners continue with their education without interruptions caused by school fee challenges.
The funds were officially presented at the school in an initiative aimed at strengthening access to education and supporting families struggling with rising education costs.
Education stakeholders have continued emphasizing the importance of bursary programmes in keeping students in school, especially learners from vulnerable and low-income households.
The latest allocation at Ruiru Girls High School is expected to benefit a significant number of students within the institution as leaders continue prioritising investment in education.
Parents and guardians welcomed the bursary support, noting that financial assistance remains critical at a time when many households are facing economic pressure.
Some parents said the support will help reduce fee balances and allow students to focus more on their studies instead of uncertainty surrounding school fees.
School communities across Kiambu County have increasingly relied on NG-CDF bursary programmes to improve school retention and ensure learners from disadvantaged backgrounds are not locked out of education opportunities.
The support for both day scholars and boarders reflects efforts to ensure that all categories of learners benefit from government-backed education initiatives.
Leaders involved in the programme reiterated the need to continue investing in education as a way of empowering young people and securing a better future for communities.
They noted that access to quality education remains one of the strongest tools for fighting poverty and promoting long-term social and economic development.
The bursary issuance also comes at a time when many schools are seeking additional support to help parents cope with the cost of education and other related expenses.
Residents in Biashara Ward praised the move, saying such initiatives play an important role in supporting students’ academic progress and reducing dropout cases linked to financial hardship.
Education stakeholders further encouraged continued collaboration between schools, parents, and development agencies to ensure more learners benefit from bursary opportunities.
The Ksh 2.3 million allocation is expected to strengthen learning continuity at Ruiru Girls High School while offering relief to many families within the constituency.
