Police are investigating two separate suspected murder-suicide cases that have left four people dead in Kiambu and Narok Counties.
In both incidents, authorities say, the male partners allegedly killed their spouses before dying by suicide.
In Juja, Kiambu County, residents of Witeithie were left in shock on Wednesday after discovering the body of a 20-year-old college student, Linet Nkatha, who had been strangled. Her body was found lying on the floor of a rented house.
Nearby, 36-year-old Dickson Muriithi Mutwiri, her boyfriend, was found hanging from the ceiling with a manila rope tied around his neck.
Police recovered a suicide note addressed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Juja. It contained contact information for Mutwiri’s mother and a confession. The note is now under analysis as investigations continue.
The two bodies were taken to the mortuary for autopsies.
Meanwhile, in Olokirikirai village, Narok County, another tragic scene unfolded after 28-year-old Lemiso Sangoyo allegedly stabbed his 24-year-old wife, Regina Lelempere, to death before taking his own life.
According to police, the bodies were discovered on Tuesday, August 5, long after the incident had occurred. Lemiso was found hanging from a wire, while Regina lay in a pool of blood with visible stab wounds to her neck.
Blood was splattered across the floor, painting a grim picture of what unfolded.
Their bodies were transferred to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortems.
Authorities say these incidents reflect a worrying trend of rising suicide cases, particularly among men. Mental health advocates continue to call for urgent action to address underlying causes.
