High Court orders DCI to preserve evidence in rape case against mugithi star Samidoh

The High Court in Nairobi has directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to preserve all forensic evidence in the rape case filed against popular Mugithi artist Samuel Muchoki, widely known as Samidoh.

Justice Lawrence Mugambi, in interim orders issued on Thursday, September 4, instructed detectives to safeguard documentary, digital, and electronic materials linked to the allegations. He further ordered DCI to issue immediate preservation notices to custodians of the evidence.

The court also barred Samidoh and his associates from contacting, intimidating, or interfering with the complainant, referred to in court documents only as M.R.W. for privacy reasons.

Justice Mugambi ruled that all documents disclosing the woman’s identity be sealed and restricted to parties in the case. The orders further directed that the petition be served personally or through a newspaper with nationwide circulation, with the respondents given seven days to reply.

The petitioner, who accuses Samidoh of sexual assault, claims to have preserved supporting evidence, including audio recordings and electronic messages. The court warned that any disobedience of its directives would attract legal consequences.
