Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi visits Thika Level 5 Hospital, terms health crisis reports as political propaganda

Speaking during an unannounced visit to Thika Level 5 Hospital, Governor Wamatangi said the allegations were part of a “well-organized propaganda campaign” by political opponents determined to destabilize his leadership.

“Those spreading rumors of a health crisis are the same individuals who tried to impeach me and failed. When that failed, they used the EACC to intimidate me. Now, they have resorted to spreading lies about deaths in our hospitals,” said Wamatangi.

The governor maintained that all county hospitals are fully operational and that no services have been interrupted.

He accused a section of local leaders of politicizing healthcare issues to incite the public against his government, warning that his administration would not be derailed by “baseless politics.”

Wamatangi was accompanied by Kiambu County Assembly Majority Leader Godfrey Mucheke and Kamenu Ward MCA Peter Mburu, who supported his remarks.

Mucheke and Mburu accused certain Kiambu MPs of being behind the propaganda, claiming they were using false narratives to undermine the governor’s leadership and score political points.

“All hospitals in Kiambu are operational. This talk of a health crisis is pure politics aimed at discrediting the county government,” said Mucheke.

Governor Wamatangi reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening healthcare services across the county, assuring residents that his administration remains focused on improving infrastructure and access to medical care.
