Alarm raised over rising lifestyle diseases in Gachororo, Juja as medics warn of silent health crisis

Health experts have raised the alarm over a growing burden of lifestyle-related diseases in Gachororo, Juja, warning that many families are being devastated by preventable illnesses.

The concern emerged during a free medical camp organised by Juja MP aspirant Dr Joseph Gichui in partnership with several healthcare institutions. Medics reported increased cases of diabetes, hypertension and various forms of cancer, noting that many residents are living with chronic conditions without proper diagnosis or treatment.

Dr Gichui urged residents to adopt healthier lifestyles, including balanced diets and regular physical activity, saying most lifestyle diseases are preventable. He encouraged reduced intake of excess carbohydrates, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, and avoidance of alcohol.

Rotary Club of Juja’s Mburu Machua also raised concern over rising depression among men, urging them to seek counselling and support. Residents cited high medical costs as a major obstacle to timely healthcare access.
