Anne Muratha boosts youth business empowerment in Kamburu Ward

Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Muratha has continued her empowerment drive across the county after delivering business support equipment to youth and women groups in Lari Constituency.

The empowerment initiative, conducted in Kamburu Ward, saw beneficiaries receive various items aimed at supporting small businesses and improving livelihoods among local residents.

Among the items distributed were a hair dryer, a motorbike umbrella, a helmet, and carwash machines for selected youth groups operating within Limuru Constituency.

The carwash machines were handed over to Kabuku Carwash and Rironi Chunga Mali Carwash, with local beneficiaries expressing optimism that the equipment would help expand their businesses and create more income opportunities.

Speaking during the exercise, Anne Muratha said the initiative was part of her office’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to residents through grassroots empowerment programmes.

She noted that many young people and women continue to face economic challenges, making such support programmes important in helping them establish and stabilize small businesses.

According to the Woman Representative, empowering youth and women economically remains one of the most effective ways of strengthening communities and reducing unemployment levels across the county.

Muratha added that the distributed equipment is expected to improve service delivery within the businesses while helping beneficiaries generate sustainable income for their families.

Residents who attended the event welcomed the initiative, saying access to equipment remains one of the biggest challenges facing small entrepreneurs, especially youth groups trying to grow their businesses.

Some beneficiaries noted that the carwash machines would help improve efficiency and attract more customers, while others said the beauty equipment would help support women venturing into salon businesses.

Local leaders also praised the programme, describing it as a practical approach to economic empowerment at the grassroots level.

They further encouraged beneficiaries to make proper use of the equipment to ensure the projects remain sustainable and beneficial to the wider community.

Muratha reiterated that her office will continue rolling out empowerment programmes targeting youth, women, and vulnerable groups in different parts of Kiambu County.

She maintained that supporting entrepreneurship and small businesses is key to improving household incomes and creating opportunities for self-employment among young people.

The latest initiative adds to ongoing efforts by leaders across Kiambu County to promote community empowerment through business support, vocational skills, and economic development projects.

Residents now hope more groups will benefit from similar programmes aimed at uplifting livelihoods and expanding opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
