Gichuru High School in Ngecha, Limuru Constituency, has received a major boost after being handed a 46-seater school bus under the Limuru NG-CDF programme, in a move aimed at empowering the boy child through improved access to education and co-curricular opportunities.
The bus was symbolically handed over during a ceremony led by Limuru MP Hon. John Kiragu Chege, who said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen learning institutions and support students across the constituency.
Gichuru High School, named after the late Hon. James Gichuru, Limuru’s first Member of Parliament, now becomes the first school in the area to benefit from a school bus under the NG-CDF programme.
According to the MP, the fully funded project is designed to improve mobility for students as they take part in academic and extracurricular activities beyond the school environment.
The bus will support school trips, academic symposiums, sports competitions, contests, and other educational engagements that require organized transport.
Education stakeholders say the development will ease long-standing transport challenges, where students previously relied on public means or borrowed buses from other schools when attending official events.
The new vehicle is also expected to restore dignity and confidence among learners, allowing them to participate more effectively in inter-school activities across the country.
Speaking during the handover, the MP emphasized that the project reflects a broader commitment to empowering the boy child through education, mentorship, and opportunity as a way of building stronger families and communities.
He added that more schools within Limuru Constituency are set to benefit from similar support programmes aimed at improving learning conditions and strengthening education standards.
The MP further encouraged parents to play a more active role in guiding and supporting the boy child, noting that mentorship at home remains key to shaping responsible future leaders.
He stressed that investing in education is one of the strongest foundations for long-term community development and national progress.
School officials and residents welcomed the donation, describing it as a transformative step that will enhance both academic performance and co-curricular participation at Gichuru High School.
The initiative has been widely viewed as part of broader efforts to strengthen education infrastructure and ensure equitable access to opportunities within Limuru Constituency.
