National Police Service sets November 17 recruitment date as exercise resumes after Court suspension lifted

The National Police Service (NPS) has officially confirmed that the nationwide recruitment of police constables will take place on November 17, 2025, following the lifting of court orders that had previously halted the exercise.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said the recruitment will be conducted across all sub-counties, urging qualified Kenyans to turn up at designated centres on time and to ensure full compliance with the listed requirements.

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, possess a valid national ID, and have attained at least a D+ (plus) in KCSE, including a minimum of D+ in English or Kiswahili.

Candidates are also expected to be physically and medically fit, with the minimum height set at 5 feet 8 inches for men and 5 feet 3 inches for women. Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during training.

The NPS emphasized that any applicant with a criminal record or pending case will be disqualified, while National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet all criteria are encouraged to apply.

In a statement, the service warned that the recruitment will be strictly free and fair, cautioning Kenyans against giving bribes or using middlemen. “Anyone found engaging in corruption to influence the recruitment process will face legal consequences,” read part of the statement.

Interested candidates can download application forms from official police websites, including those of the NPS, DCI, and Administration Police (AP). Forms are also available at Huduma Centres nationwide.

Applicants are required to report to their respective recruitment centres by 8 a.m. on the material day, carrying original and photocopies of academic certificates, national ID, birth certificate, and, where applicable, NYS discharge certificates with a “Good” conduct rating.

Recruitment centres have been listed for all counties, including Kasarani, Makadara, Kibra, and Lang’ata in Nairobi, as well as venues in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Uasin Gishu counties.

The exercise is expected to boost police manpower and improve security services across the country, as the government seeks to address rising demands in law enforcement and public safety.
