ICT Cabinet Secretary Hon. William Kabogo Gitau has presided over the laying of the foundation stone for the Makuyu ICT Hub in Maragua Constituency, Murang’a County, marking a major step in expanding digital access at the grassroots.
The hub is part of the Government’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at equipping young people with relevant digital skills, opening up online job opportunities, and fostering innovation across the country.
Once operational, the Makuyu ICT Hub will provide high-speed internet, digital training programmes, and a collaborative space for youth and entrepreneurs to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
Speaking during the event, CS Kabogo emphasized that the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy is committed to ensuring no region is left behind in the digital revolution. He noted that similar ICT hubs have already been rolled out in other constituencies to promote inclusive growth.
The CS also officially opened the Makuyu Chief Camp on behalf of Interior Cabinet Secretary Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen.
Leaders present reaffirmed support for ongoing government programmes including affordable housing, digital economy expansion, and infrastructure development across the Mt. Kenya region.
